In what turned out to be a free-scoring encounter Borders Amateur Divison ‘C’ encounter, Rovers drew first blood through a top notch goal.

Having played some good football from the start of the game, Rovers restored their lead following the changeover when Callum Hope shot home after being set up by Cesar Bento.

Rovers continued to look the part and soon added to their tally. On intercepting a pass-back, Chay Caldwell surged forward before round the visitors’ number one and spraying a pass to Hope who netted from close range.

Rovers appeared destined for victory at this stage only to be sent reeling in the closing stages when Lauder came back from the dead to grab two late goals.

Just on the final whistle, Rovers’ Jordan Caldwell was dismissed after picking up a second yellow card.

Rovers manager Alex Caldcommented: “Lack of concentration cost us a win as we went to sleep and lost our shape in the last ten minutes.

“However, a lot of good came out of the game as well as we played some decent football.”
