Hawick Legion recorded their biggest win in their club history at Chirnside last Saturday.
The record books state that the Legion outgunned Chirnside Unite Coltd 20-0.
And that’s it. End of story.
However there is a tale around this story, as Legion thought they had blasted their Berwickshire opposition 21-0.
Speaking of this, long-serving Legion player Davie Fraser told the “Hawick News”, “There has been a lot of confusion about the score.
“The Border Amateur League website had us winning by 20 goals to nil, as did the referees report.
“We thought we had scored 21 goals though, and had a list of our goalscorers, which included four players getting hat-tricks.
“However we will have to go by the referees report and accept it.
“A referee does not have the luxury that we had in being able to count the goals and know the goalscorers in the dressing-room after a game.”
