Over 20 local businesses have supported Hawick Albion U16 team with their fundraising for their weekend tour to Italy this weekend.
The Albion team will be playing two matches in three days in Padova near Venice. The boys have been fundraising all season and the support from local businesses has been a real boost
Coach Brian Renwick said: “To get as many local businesses to support the boys has been fantastic and we are really grateful to them all. It’s has been a long hard season both on and off the field, but with some great support we have raised the money to give the boys a great experience.”
The weekend tour starts today (Friday) against Pretrarca U16s, followed by a match against Valsugano U16s on Sunday. Tomorrow (Saturday), the squad of 20 players will head into Venice for the day.
Albion president Bryan Scott added: ‘it has become a little bit of a tradition that the Albion U16s go away for the weekend as a way of saying goodbye to the Albion before the players move on to semi-junior rugby. We are all looking forward to what will be a great experience.”
