A fund-raising Zumbathon will see 65 people take to the floor in Burnfoot school tonight in a bid to raise £1,000 for Macmillan Cancer Care. The event follows on from a charity walk that took place between Hawick and Galashiels two weeks ago to raise funds for 23-year-old Kerry Potts, who was diagnosed with breast cancer earlier this year. The walk raised in excess of £2,000. Kerry’s friend Kath Byers (back row, third from right) told the Hawick News: “We have 65 people taking part from 6pm on Friday night and we are really hoping to raise about £1,000. We are already well on the way to reaching our target with participants paying £10 as a donation and outside sponsors also contributing. The Fit Borders team is taking the class, which is great and we would like to thank Frankie’s Bar for donating water for those taking part.” Donations can be made to Kath at the Burnfoot Co-op or on 07592 907633
