The Girlguiding Christmas Post Committee would like to thank the people of Hawick for supporting this year’s Christmas Post by sending their Christmas cards with us.
We took in 30,000 cards and have raised an amazing £4,460. We cannot thank everyone enough for their support.
Girlguiding Hawick will split this money between every Rainbow, Brownie and Guide unit in the Hawick district to ensure all the girls have the best experience in Guiding.
Last year, some units spent the money raised from Guiding Post on a special day out for the girls, some put the money towards paying the girls’ census and some used it to buy materials for their unit.
Apart from expenses and the donation which we will make to a local charity next year, every penny raised goes back to the girls, and each unit receives a cheque from Girlguiding Hawick. The units really appreciate this extra donation and would not be able to run smoothly without it. Thank you to everyone.
Leader and Guiding Post Committee
Thank you to all those Hawick residents who chose to send their Christmas cards via the Scout Group Post, thereby ensuring that the Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and their leaders, plus the pipe band, can lookfor- ward to another year of activities in comfortable premi- ses.
Thank you also to all volunteers who worked so hard, receiving, sorting and delivering cards throughout the town in good time for Christmas. Without their valuable help, the charity fund-raising could not take place and, as well as those who have helped for many years, it was good to welcome some new faces this year.
Regrettably, some cards could not be delivered because of incorrect names or addresses. We tried very hard to trace the proposed recipients but a few were impossible. We apologise if you did not receive and expected card – we did our best! For anyone who did not receive an expected card and would like to check at the Scout Hall, please call on a Monday evening when the hall will be open after 7pm.
