I read with pride the recent remarks regarding the community spirit during the floods, but I have to say that this is not just isolated to the floods or emergencies.
I work at the Community Hospital with a fabulous mutli-discipline team, and I have to say that the amount of support and thanks we receive is overwhelming.
We have a fantastic group of people who make up The Friends of Hawick Community Hospital, who work tirelessly to raise money for the unit and the patients. These people do this in their own time with a remarkable sense of commitment and community. Also, members of the public never cease to amaze me with how helpful and caring they can be.
I would be grateful if, through your columns, I could say a heartfelt thanks to the hospital ‘Friends’ for their hard work, to the patients and relatives for their support, and wish them and all of Hawick a happy Christmas and a healthy New Year.
