Prospective plans for a wind farm to be situated near Harwood, to the south of Bonchester Bridge, are to go on display this week for the inspection of local communities.
Leeds-based energy firm Energiekontor UK Ltd will be holding the first of two rounds of public exhibitions to discuss the Pines Burn Wind Farm at Harwood, which is about five miles from Hawick.
The exhibitions will take place on July 4 at Denholm Village Hall, and July 5 at Bonchester Bridge Village Hall.
A spokesperson for EnergieKontor said this week: “While the project is still at an early stage we are keen to present our proposals to the local community and address any questions, queries and concerns.
“As a company we firmly believe in early and transparent discussions in a public forum, and welcome local views as the project progresses. We are also hoping to work with the community on how best to invest a community benefit fund, and we look forward to welcoming the public to the exhibition next week.
“We will be holding a second round of exhibitions later in the year where more detailed plans will be presented.”
EnergieKontor made an application to Scottish Borders Council in January this year, for the erection of an 80m high meteorological mast on the site, for a period of up to three years.
