Police are appealing for witnesses after cash was stolen from a house in Weensland Road.

The incident happened between 6.30pm on Tuesday and 12.30am on Wednesday.

When the homeowners returned they discovered that their property had been entered and a four-figure sum of money was missing.

Detective Constable Callum Peoples told the Hawick News: “The victims are obviously very upset as a result of this invasion of their home and the theft of their money, and we are conducting various local inquiries to identify those responsible.

“Anyone who remembers seeing any suspicious activity around Weensland Road on Tuesday evening or the early hours of Wednesday is asked to contact police immediately.”

Those with information can get in touch with Police Scotland on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Meanwhile, Chief Inspector Andy McLean has reassured Teries that his officers will continue to pound the local beat. He told the Hawick News: “In the next few weeks, community officers will continue to be out on foot giving the High Street attention and in the evenings to
address youth issues or road safety problems.”
