Weekend police report

A 23-YEAR-OLD man was arrested over an alleged shoplifting incident at Burnfoot Co-op on Saturday afternoon. He was later released on bail conditions but arrested again later in the night when he was found to be in breach of those bail conditions. He is due to appear in court today (Monday).

A 26-YEAR-OLD man was arrested over an assault on a member of staff in a public house on Saturday night. He was later released and will be reported to the procurator fiscal.

A 20-YEAR-OLD man was arrested in Oliver Place in the early hours of Sunday over a breach of the peace. He was later released and issued with a fixed penalty ticket.

A 17-YEAR-OLD was charged with a minor assault after an incident in Buccleuch Street in the early hours of Sunday. He was issued with a Fixed Penalty Ticket.

A 49-YEAR-OLD motorcyclist from Newcastle was airlifted to hospital following a collision on the B6357 near Hews Bridge, Newcastleton, on Sunday.

The male rider was heading south when he lost control and left the road.

He was taken to Dumfries Infirmary by air ambulance and treated for various broken bones and other injuries – none of which are thought to be life threatening.
