‘We were lucky’ admits nursery boss

A local nursery manager has spoken of her relief after fears over flooded premises were not as bad as first thought, writes Jason Marshall.

Wendy Scott, of Mansfield Nursery, which has around 70 youngsters on its books, says that although there was water damage to carpets and vinyl, their building in Mansfield Road has escaped the worst of the severe flooding.

“We were very, very lucky,” she said. “The damage was worse in 2005.”

Wendy also told us that alternative premises at Wilton church hall have been secured for the next two weeks to allow for new floor coverings to be laid.

She added: “We’re hoping our move up to Wilton will be as smooth as possible and I’d like to say a huge thank you to the church for their help at such short notice.

“We’ll be phoning parents to let them know the arrangements for tomorrow [Monday] as soon as we can.”
