Warning to revellers after drunken prank

A HALLOWEEN prankster scaled the Horse Monument in the early hours of Sunday morning and left a fancy dress head on the memorial.

But police have warned anyone planning similar moves could face severe consequences.

A spokesperson said: “These type of actions, although at the lower end of the scale in regard to crime, are more an antisocial issue. There’s also the fact that if a person is under the influence of alcohol, then the consequences to them if they fell could be very serious.”

The head was removed late on Sunday morning, although Common-Riding committee secretary Frank Scott revealed machinery had to be hired to clean the statue after blue body paint rubbed off on it.
