TRINITY Primary School has waved goodbye to deputy headteacher John Riley who left last Friday to take up a new post in Dumfries.
The occasion was marked by the children and staff dressing up as characters from books, and for his last day Mr Riley (pictured) read or told a story to each class. There was also a special assembly where the children presented him with a car and book tookens, and a book on the Common-Riding.
Headteacher Karen Dixon said: “Friday highlighted the amazing work Mr Riley has done over the last five-and-a-half years at Trinity and the leading role he has taken to promote reading for enjoyment. The staff, pupils and parents wish him every success in his new post. Mr Riley has made such a huge contribution to our school over the last few years and he will be a great miss.”
Mr Riley is now headteacher at Gatehouse Primary School.
