COUNCIL wardens issued five fixed penalty notices to dog owners who failed to pick up after their pets in the last two months.
The wardens took action throughout June and July after either being tipped off by town residents or witnessing dog fouling offences themselves. They reported 119 cases of seeing owners transferring dog feces to a bag for subsequent disposal.
Wardens are employed to also attend reports of anti-social behaviour and environmental issues.
During the same period, those on patrol in the town were alerted to five flytipping incidents, one case of environmental damage, 18 dog fouling complaints, 13 instances of anti-social behaviour, and four people illegally dumping rubbish.
Two wardens’ surgeries were staged in the town during mid-June, where members of the public could air bring to the attention of the wardens any complaints or issues.
