THE stage is set for Hawick to play host to its first ever International Youth Dance Event.
Organised by local GP Cath Elliott-Walker, 80 visitors from Germany and Poland are due to arrive next Tuesday as guests of Teries in Tartan - a group which was formed last year to attend a folk festival in Germany.
A full programme of activities is planned including a civic reception in the town hall, and outdoor performances at the civic space on Wednesday morning between 10.30am and 11.15am, and at Sainsbury’s between 12-12.45pm. The highlight of the week will be a Grand Concert in the Auld Baths next Friday.
Organiser Cath Elliott-Walker said: “This will be the showcase event for the festival and we are hoping for a big turnout.”
Tickets priced £6 are available from Brydon’s Cafe. There will also be an outdoor performance next Saturday at 11.30am at Trinity Gardens.
