TERIES young and old thronged the Vertish Hill last night as the Common-Riding countdown stepped up a gear at the Thursday Night Chase.

Cornet Ross Nichol led an impressive cavalcade up the Loan and onto the Nipknowes, where enthusiastic crowds lined the fences in eager anticipation.

Acting Father Iain Huggan gave a rousing lead to the married men, while the Cornet, Right-Hand Man Michael Davidson and Left-Hand Man Greg Easton were at the head of the unmarried supporters.
