Teviotdale 11 in mammoth charity trek

A walking group from Teviothead will undertake a 96-mile hike in the name of charity this summer.

The Teviotdale Trekkers will walk the West Highland Way – from Milngavie, near Glasgow, to Fort William – at the end of July to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Research and Motor Neurone Disease Scotland.

The 11-strong group comprises residents of Teviothead and their friends, with keen walkers Ronnie and Julia Templeman leading the party.

Pat Douglas, 56, is enthusiastic about the prospect of generating funds for charity.

She said: “The West Highland Way is something I’ve wanted to do for a while. The whole group enjoys walking and we really wanted to do it. It’s very much a joint effort.”

Sandra and Donald Knox, Caroline and John Tullie, Gill Francombe, Katie Templeman, Fenella Pow and Sam Blyth will also take part in the walk from July 30-August 5.
