Teenager slapped with fines for ‘serious offences’

FINES totalling £315 have been imposed on a teenager who assaulted a female and then turned up at her home and confronted her father.

Jedburgh Sheriff Court heard Danny Sharkey, 18, of Borthwick Road, had been of good behaviour during a period of deferred sentence.

But Sheriff Gerald Sinclair said he could not admonish him because of the seriousness of the offences.

Sharkey was fined £180 for assaulting the teenage girl in the grounds of a local primary school and another £135 for the incident at her home on April 25, 2010, when he acted aggressively, threw a brick and brandished a spade.

He was admonished on another charge of failing to appear in court.
