Two local hair stylists are sharpening their scissors in preparation for the regional finals of this year’s L’Oreal Colour Trophy.

Laura Colwill,32, and Chelsea Hogg, 23, from the Style A Head salon at 4 High Street have both been shortlisted in their respective categories.

Laura is down to the final 30 in Scotland in the L’Oreal Colour Trophy and has been hairdressing for many years. She joined the Style A Head team around three years ago.

Chelsea started at the salon when she was still at school and has been trained in-house. She is competing against four others for the L’Oreal Colour Trophy Star Award.

Salon co-owner Nadia Cranston told the Hawick News she is very proud of her team.

She added: “I’m thrilled that both of them have got through to the regionals.”

To enter, the girls both had to prepare their models’ hair for a colour and cut and then style it. Then, a make-up artist and photographer added the finishing touches to their entries, before the pictures were sent to L’Oreal.

Nadia added: “The next stage is at the Hilton in Glasgow and the girls will have to produce the style again to be viewed by the judges.

“It’s amazing for our small salon and we’re going to be competing against the big boys.

“Last year we we’re 15th out of 30 so it would be great to do better than that. I know they will do a great job.”
