‘Stories behind the books’ at Archaeological

The Archaeological Society will hold its annual general meeting in the town hall next Tuesday (January 6) at 7.30pm, after which there will be an illustrated lecture on ‘The stories behind the books – an exploration of the John Murray archives’.

The talk will be given by David McClay, of the John Murray Archive at the National Library of Scotland, whose role requires him to promote access to the collection, which includes works by novelist Sir Walter Scott, explorer David Livingstone and scientist Charles Darwin.

Voluntary collection, non-members welcome.
