A man struck two people with a stone outside a shop.

James Jackson, 26, of Galalaw Road, admitted assaulting a 14-year-old at the Premier Store, Havelock Street, on June 30, by striking the teenager on the head with a stone to his injury.

He also admitted assaulting a woman on the same date, and striking her on the body with a stone to her injury.

Jackson also admitted threatening or abusive behaviour in North Bridge Street and Oliver Place, uttering threats of violence, pursuing children, and brandishing a hammer at a man.

Sentence was deferred at Jedburgh Sheriff Court until April 4 for reports.

Nyeesha Mercer, 20, of Allars Bank, admitted shouting and swearing at her siser in Morrisons car park, Mart Street, on August 7. Prosecutor Tessa Bradley said the accused and her sister had since reconciled. “You obviously lost your temper,” said Sheriff Peter Anderson, who fined Mercer £50.
