HAWICK Scout Group has issued an urgent appeal to find more volunteers.

The local organisation, based in Union Street, starts up again on August 26 without Cub Scout leader Angela Cumming, who has stepped down after many years of service. She will be replaced by Anna Lee, former assistant Beaver Scout leader.

Anna said: “We are in need of assistant leaders for all groups but more desperately for anyone who would just like to help out as an adult helper.

“This could be every week or just one night a month. There are no special skills needed and you may have abilities that you might not think useful to scouting but you’d be surprised.

“Everything from the obvious camping and outdoor activities to cookery, local history, art and design, IT, animal welfare and, of course, the ability to have some fun and adventure.”

Cub Scouts meet on Monday nights, Beavers Tuesdays, and Scouts on Wednesdays.
