Schemes get the go ahead after funding is approved

HAWICK councillors have approved over £12,000 worth of small local schemes from the Scottish Borders Council budget allocated for the area.

At a special meeting of the Teviot and Liddesdale Area Committee, held at Newtown St Boswells – usually held monthly in Hawick Town Hall – Councillors Elliot, Marshall, Smith and Turnbull gave the go-ahead to fund five different local projects.

These comprise £5,000 worth of new equipment for the small playpark in Denholm, £1,587 for repairs to the Loaning in Hobkirk, £450 towards a steel pipe for the Southdean Christmas tree, and £5,000 for new CCTV cameras at the Horse.

They have also agreed on improvements to the Waverley Walk, from Linden Crescent to Liddesdale Road.
