HAWICK Saxhorn Band is playing its part in the 13th Scottish Borders Festival of Brass with a concert next Friday night.
This year’s festival kicks off on Sunday and runs through to October 20, with one of the highlights being the concert in the high school.
Conductor Alan Fernie, who is also chairman of the Scottish Borders Brass Band Association, said: “There will be a great mixture of music, from films, solo performances and a specially written piece.
“The band members have been working really hard and they’re coming on leaps and bounds.”
The festival sees 11 events organised by member bands and includes several exciting concerts, a long-established solo and quartet competition, a youth band contest and a brass and percussion workshop for school children.
Next Friday night’s concert starts at 7.30pm. Tickets, priced £5, are available from Dorwards on the High Street. There will be bar service.
