Rural’s blooming good night

Roberton WRI president Alison Riddell welcomed members to the April meeting and introduced Joyce Tinlin, guest for the evening, who demonstrated ‘Flowers with Songs and Poetry’.

Joyce, a firm favourite at Roberton rural, went on to make some beautiful arrangements, while her songs and recitations were equal to her flower arranging. Joyce very kindly donated them to the raffle and all the members received a prize. The vote of thanks was given by Frances Munro, and the ladies wished Joyce all the best in her new venture at Dorward’s. Simnel cake competition: 1, Margaret Anderson; 2, Betty Hopkins. Sales table realised £12.50. 200 club: 1, R. Patterson; 2, A. Glendinning; 3, Margaret Johnson.

Next meeting on May 13 will feature a talk from the police and a competition for flower arrangement. Also ideas for summer outing will be sought.
