Robberies accused behind bars

A woman will spend the start of 2011 behind bars after being locked up in connection with two armed robberies on the same day.

Claire Condie, 21, was remanded in custody following a brief private appearance on Hogmanay at Jedburgh Sheriff Court. She is charged with two counts of assault and robbery at two general convenience stores on Tuesday, December 21.

Condie made no plea or declaration and she was fully committed.

Her next appearance in court is on a date still to be confirmed.

Lothian and Borders Police say that cash, cigarettes and alcohol were taken from both shops and staff members threatened with a knife.
