Riders urged to respect farmers

THE chairman of the Ride-out Working Party has this week issued a plea to riders to exercise their horses respectfully.

With the countdown on to the first ride-out next month, Graeme Paxton told the Hawick News: “I’ve been told that local riders were seen galloping up the middle of a field at Colifort, scattering young lambs and sheep. Although it is a riding route, there is no need for that and we would urge people to be respectful of the farmers.”

Although they have not received any complaints, Mr Paxton added: “We don’t want anyone to jeoparise the routes.”
