STUDENTS on the high school’s Creative Fashion course have swapped the catwalk for centre stage at a new exhibition in the town.

The Futures Gallery at Borders Textile Towerhouse is showing a display featuring outfits made by the S5 and S6 pupils, all of which come under the theme of ‘DIY’, and include the trend for recycling, such as a dress made out of bin bags and another which is covered with scraps of paper torn from magazines.

From a blouse decorated with used bottle tops to a glamorous full-length evening gown, the garments in this exhibition demonstrate how the girls have used their imagination and ingenuity to create unique outfits.

The display also features eye-catching images by Hawick photographer John Parris in which he captures the pupils modelling outfits which they made on the Creative Fashion course.

The exhibition runs until September 29 and admission is free.
