The swimming pool at Teviotdale Leisure Centre has been forced to shut this week following problems with the boiler.
The surprise closure of the pool, only one week after it had been locked down for routine maintenance, was due to issues with temperature control and it being too cold to allow public swimming.
A spokesperson for Borders Sport and Leisure Trust confirmed: “We are experiencing unexpected technical issues with our boilers, which means the air and pool temperatures are too low. We have had engineers on site since Monday and they are working to get things back up and running as soon possible. It will take time for the pool temperature to get back to the required level but we will open as soon as possible.”
A statement on the centre’s Facebook Ppage yesterday reiterated: “Teviotdale Leisure Centre swimming pool is closed until further notice. All dry side activities running as normal and the is gym open too. Anyone with questions can contact 374440.”
