Police plea after fatal accident

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man died as the result of a road accident last night (Thursday).

The 82-year-old male was involved in a collision with a Skoda Fabia as it turned onto Rosevale Street from Mansfield Crescent at around 9.30pm, and succumbed to his injuries in Borders General Hospital.

Sergeant Neil Inglis, of the road policing unit, said: “We are currently investigating a fatal road traffic collision in Hawick last night.

“Unfortunately, an 82-year-old man died as result of the injuries he sustained in this incident and our thoughts are with his family at this very difficult time.

“We have spoken with the driver of the vehicle as part of our inquiry and are asking anyone who witnessed this collision to come forward.”
