Police in death crash appeal

Police are this morning launching a fresh appeal for witnesses after a 34-year-old woman died as the result of a car crash on the A698 yesterday (Thursday).

The collision took place at the junction near Ashybank at around 4.15pm, and involved a Vauxhall Zafira and a Peugeot 207.

A police spokesman said: “The 34-year-old female driver of the Vauxhall Zafira was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. Three boys aged 12-years-old, nine and 18 months were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

“The 26-year-old male driver of the Peugeot was also taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.”

The spokesperson added: “Anyone who witnessed this collision is urged to contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
