‘Persistent’ dog fouling problem at cemetery

The scourge of dog fouling continues at Denholm Cemetery, despite Scottish Borders Council launching a crackdown in the area.

A recent meeting of the village’s community council was told that “persistent offenders” were at the root of the problem and that another clean-up was required.

Hawick and Denholm councillor Stuart Marshall said he would investigate.

Councillor Marshall also agreed to take take up the issue of street light
outages in Murray Place and Douglas Drive.

A discussion took place on the state of roads in and around the village which were continuing to “deteriorate alarmingly”.

Community councillor Rob Armstrong highlighted the main street in Minto as an area which was in particularly poor condition.

Hawick and Denholm councillor Alastair Cranston agreed to alert Scottish Borders Council to Mr Armstrong’s concerns.
