Hawick Pantomime Group is celebrating this week after receiving a grant from the Lottery’s Awards for All scheme.
The group, which was formed in 1980, has been awarded £8,580 to buy new microphone equipment which will also be made available to other community groups for a small charge.
Chairperson Mike Webber said: “Having our own sound equipment will mean we’ll make significant savings on the cost of each show which, in turn, will enable us to make more donations to local groups.”
He added: “My thanks to committee members Graham Ford and Gerry Monaghan who put together the successful bid.
“I believe as an organisation we are now entering a new exciting era and are back on track to being able to donate money from annual productions. Costs are continually rising and this award will help keep our ticket prices low.”
It has also been announced that Margaret Moyes will be producer for the second consecutive year in 2016, with an announcement on the show expected later this month.
