May I say that I felt last week’s responses to the letter from Andrew Shields the previous week were shocking and very one-sided, and reflected badly on your paper.
Personally, I think that there were more boy racers several years ago, and that the problem has reduced due to the high price of petrol. There are a few local drivers who obviously don’t adhere to speed limits, but it is not just young motorists, it is also older men and women.
I would also like to state that Mr Shields is not alone in thinking that our town is in the dark ages. And before anyone feels the need to criticise my last comment, Hawick is my home and I will always defend it no matter what. But I just hope that future generations see a drastic improvement in all aspects of our town.
