No dangers posed from old dump

CONCERNS over possible contamination from a former dump outside Hawick have been allayed by the Scottish Environment Protection Agency.

It was previously reported at Hawick Community Council that a coloured liquid had been seen coming from the river at Hummelknowes dump at the foot of Lovers’ Lane. SEPA has since taken samples and no problems have been found. However, should members of the public spot anything, the environment agency has pledged to carry out an immediate investigation.
