New plaque plan and exhibition for 2014 celebrations

Hawick Archaeological Society have revealed plans for the 2014 celebrations.

The group is funding a plaque for the new Hornshole Memorial, which is being designed and produced by Gordon Muir, the son of Bob and Jean Muir.

HAS is also working in conjunction with the museum services at Wilton Lodge to organise an exhibition of Common-Riding memorabilia and it is hoped items not usually displayed will be on show.

Discussions are also taking place on a further collaboration with the museum and details will be made available when confirmed.

The exhibition will run from Easter 2014 and throughout the Common Riding.

If anyone has any interesting or unusual Common-Riding memorabilia, then contact Gerry Graham (HAS) on 376220 or Shona Sinclair (museum curator) on 373457.

The 2014 group has its meetings in the Border Club and they are open to the public. The next meeting is on Wednesday at 7pm.
