A CAIRN in memory of the late Nan Lyle will be unveiled on Sunday.
And townsfolk who knew her are being invited to take part in the Nan Lyle Walk prior to the unveiling.
Co-organiser Angela Cumming, said: “The cairn is to be a lasting tribute to Nan who participated in and gave so much to the local community and sadly passed away at the beginning of last year.”
Anyone interested in taking part can join the walk from the Moor to the cairn on Whitchesters Hill, starting at 1pm. Mrs Cumming added: “If you can’t manage the walk, then you can join in for the unveiling of the cairn around 2pm on Whitchesters Hill.”
Walkers will return to Hawick via Haysike or the Moor where friends who cannot make it to either the walk or unveiling can enjoy a cup of tea in St Mary’s Church Hall, Buccleuch Street, from around 4pm.
To register for the walk go to www.nan-lyle.org or telephone 371185, 372085 or 374491.
