Myra is ‘on the mend’ after council chambers fall

FORMER Provost Myra Turnbull is said to be recovering well after a bad fall in the council chambers last Wednesday night.

Mrs Turnbull fractured the top of her femur and underwent a partial hip replacement at Borders General Hospital.

She was due to be transferred to the Community Hospital yesterday afternoon.

Her grandson, Ross Irvine, said: “Granny is on the mend. She was just getting up from her chair, caught her foot in the carpet and fell over.

“She’s in a lot of pain, but she’s had a lot of nice messages and cards and she’s very thankful to everyone for their support.”
