Museum’s £37k grant boost

The museum has received a grant of £37,600 to refurbish its war memorial room which houses a roll of honour commemorating lives lost during the First and Second World Wars.

The cash, which was awarded by Museums Galleries Scotland, will be used to develop displays on Hawick’s military history including the prisoner-of-war camp at Stobs, while new display cases will see a vast increase in material on display.

Curator Shona Sinclair said: “This grant which will allow us to create a lasting legacy for the museum and for the community.”
