Ousted Hawick MP Michael Moore has today been hailed for his “tireless work” in the region.
Mr Moore, of the Liberal Democrats, lost the Roxburgh, Berwickshire and Selkirk seat to the SNP’s Callum Kerr in Thursday’s General Election, and commenting on the result, local Lib Dem MSP Jim Hume told the Hawick News: “Michael Moore has been a fine advocate for the people of the Borders for the past 18 years and has worked tirelessly on both local and national issues.
“He has attracted the respect of parliamentarians from across the political benches and that is a testament to his professionalism and dedication to doing the right thing for his constituents.
“His lasting legacy will be the skill with which he negotiated the Edinburgh Agreement during his time as Secretary of State for Scotland.”
Mr Hume also said Mr Moore would be much missed across the region as the local MP.
