Morrisons supermarket gave some of the town’s oldest residents an early Christmas present last week in the shape of a free festive lunch.
The Mart Street store treated elderly Teries from Buccleuch Care Home, St Margaret’s and Deanfield to a special three-course Christmas dinner at the cafe – as well as staff using their own cars to help transport some of the special guests.
Morrisons duty manager Chris Monaghan told the Hawick News: “We’ve been carrying out fund-raising and supporting the local community and towards Christmas we thought we would help the older folk in the town.”
Around 35 residents enjoyed the meal, which also included the festive complements of paper hats and After Eight mints.
Buccleuch home manager Shona McHutchison said: “The residents absolutely loved it. It was a lovely gesture by Morrisons and gave everyone a real lift. They all said the meal was fabulous.”
