Mill apprentices make grade

Fifteen Hawick Knitwear employees have gained an apprenticeship qualification.

The workers have all achieved the Modern Apprentice Award Level Two in Manufacturing Textile Products, and the firm’s manufacturing director, Ian McLeod, says such success highlights the Liddesdale Roaded company’s commitment to knitwear manufacturing.

He said: “Training is an ongoing element of our strategy to secure jobs and the future of the business and the industry.”

Sweaters were also presented in recongition of their efforts.
