Memorial run for Guthrie

All roads lead to Denholm this weekend for the 53rd annual Jimmie Guthrie Memorial Run.

More than 120 cars and motorbikes are expected to to descend on the village green for Sunday’s event, which is again sponsored by Bonhams.

The run will start at 1pm from Denholm, on to Harestanes Visitor Centre, then Kelso, Scott’s View, and Wilton Lodge Park in Hawick (3-4pm), during which time entrants, who are coming from as far afield as Pitlochry in Perthshire and Chatham in Kent, will be able to visit the Guthrie statue and the museum.

The run finishes back in Denholm at 4.30pm when the prize-giving will be held.

The oldest car taking part is a 1912 T Ford, owned by Mike Povey of Ancrum. The oldest motorbike is a 1922 Scott, owned by E. Alderson of Hawes, Yorkshire.
