A Hawick man has been awarded an MBE in the New Year Honours List for services to the music industry and charity.
Robert Wilson, chairman of Sound Technology Ltd, one of the largest independent musical instrument and professional audio distributors in the UK, was born in the town and lived in Braemar Cottage in the grounds of Braemar Mill.
The 64-year-old is also a director of the Music for Youth (MFY) charity, with which he’s been involved since the early 1970s.
Mr Wilson said: “To be awarded an MBE is a great honour and one which I am delighted to receive. As well as being an honour for me,I see this as recognition of all the hard work from the staff in the various organisations who are continuing to promote and encourage the playing and creating of music and music education.”
