Mark conquers Sahara, next up Scotland

MARATHON man Mark Lyons returned home from his Sahara challenge this week in agony and ecstasy.

But he has little time to rest as he prepares for the 150-mile Scottish Ultra Race at the start of next month.

Mark, who is raising money for MS Scotland and the Borders, said: “The Marathon Des Sable was far tougher than I expected. The temperature was over 50 degrees every day and the terrain was incredibly difficult, speed and energy sapping sand dunes, desert mountains and baking hot desert plain made the running very hard.

“I had serious blistering quite early on and this made it agony in the last few days but by digging deep and remembering the support I had back home I crossed the finish line exhausted but happy and proud at the same time.”
