Man jailed for ‘empty threats’

A man who shouted and swore outside a house was jailed for 20 days.

Rory Morrison, 24, of Towerknowe, appeared from custody at Selkirk Sheriff Court and admitted behaving in a threatening manner in Oliver Crescent on August 30 when police attended after receiving a 999 call.

Solicitor Ross Dow said his client had overcome a long-standing heroin addiction but struggled to cope with life outside prison.

He said Morrison had made “empty threats”.

Sentence was backdated to August 30.
