A YOUNG Hawick man who struggled violently with police officers in a Galashiels bar has been fined £135.
Selkirk Sheriff Court heard that Jamie Brown was upset after his friend was knocked unconscious in H20 in Overhaugh Street on April 22.
But while paramedics and police officers tried to deal with the incident, the 20-year-old, of Mansfield Crescent, became abusive and refused to quieten down when requested to do so.
When Brown – who was covered in blood – was asked for his details, he tried to grab hold of a sergeant and started struggling violently with him and his colleagues before being handcuffed.
In a letter to the court Brown apologised for his behaviour.
Sheriff Kevin Drummond said he would have fined the first offender £200 but reduced the sum to £135 due to the early guilty plea.
