Man admits child porn net charges

The son of a disgraced martial arts teacher convicted for spying on a naked schoolgirl has himself admitted child pornography charges.

Andrew Finn, formerly of Hawick, who was living in Billingham in Stockton on Tees at the time of the offences, pleaded guilty to seven counts of possessing indecent images of children when he appeared at Teesside Crown Court last month.

Five of the charges relate to movie clips of child abuse and two charges relate to having indecent photographs of youngsters.

All the images are said to have been found on a computer on May 17 last year after it was seized by police as part of an investigation into child sex abuse over the internet.

Finn, 25, who has moved to Galashiels, will now automatically be placed on the sex offenders' register.

The length of time will be decided when he returns to court for sentencing on Friday, August 22.

Judge Peter Fox QC granted him conditional bail but said there was no indication of what his punishment will be.

Speaking outside the court, Detective Constable Ged Swash, of Cleveland CID, said: "Working in partnership with other agencies we were able to bring this matter to court and his guilty pleas justified the investigation into internet sex offenders.

"This was an intelligence-led police operation which led to the seizure of a computer that was analysed and found to contain abuse images of children."

Last December, Finn's father, also Andrew Finn, was jailed for six months and given a five-year sexual offences prevention order after admitting voyeurism and common assault charges relating to a girl under 13 at a karate club he ran in Middlesbrough. The 52-year-old was placed on the sex offenders' register for seven years.
