Make tracks for the Border Rail show

A week before the Borders Railway commences, trains will be running in Hawick again, albeit in miniature scale when Hawick and District Railway Society presents its annual Border Rail exhibition in the Auld Baths on August 29-30.

Nine working layouts are on display as well as demonstrations on various aspects of railway modelling techniques, with one layout actually under construction. The Waverley Route Heritage Association, based at Whitrope, will be in attendance, as well as North British Railway Company history group.

‘The Magic Roundabout’ will be there again but in a slightly different design as it is combined with ‘Thomas the Tank Engine’ on a layout by club member Rob Evans.

In conjunction with the Waverley Route Heritage Association’s open weekend at Whitrope, a free vintage bus service is operating between the two places for those with tickets to either exhibition.

The show is open on Saturday 10-5 and Sunday 10-4. Entry is £4 for adults, £3 pensioners and £2 children.
