President Mairhi Trickett welcomed members to last week’s Hawick Rotary Club meeting, at which the speaker was Euan Nicholl, Selkirk, who attended last July’s Rotary Youth Leadership Award Camp at Ardeonaig, Killin, Perthsire.

RYLA is an intensive leadership and developmental programme for boys and girls (15 to 17 years old) in physical and intellectual terms for one week. The boys and girls attend each camp separately at the outdoor activity centre and take part in a wide range of activities including canoeing, kayaking, abseiling and rock-climbing, as well as presenting lectures to build confidence and self-esteem.

Euan gave an excellent illustrated talk on his time at the camp and answered questions at the end.

The vote of thanks was by Robin Mason.
