Hawick MSP Jim Hume has paid tribute to his Lib Dem colleague Charles Kennedy who died yesterday.
“Today is a heart wrenchingly sad day for the Liberal Democrat family,” said Mr Hume. “We have lost a class act and the world of politics has lost one of its brightest talents.”
Alluding to Mr Kennedy’s stint as party leader, Mr Hume continued: “Charles demonstrated his great strength of character through his stance on Iraq and made Liberal Democrats proud to stand up for what is right.”
Mr Hume added that the 55-year-old, who died at his Fort William home, would be remembered not only for his integrity, humanity and charismatic quick wit, but for his immense impact on politics UK-wide.
